My dog keeps on digging holes outside, so I have to replenish it with dirt all the time. He gets mad that I do that, so he digs bigger holes. How do I stop this?
I understand your problem. Dogs tend to do this and it is frustrating, especially when we have to fix it. I know, personally, my dogs tend to dig holes for three reasons: they are bored and want to play, they’re looking for a cool spot in the summer or there are rodents in the backyard. It’s going to take some time, but my advice is to try to figure out which reason they are digging. Once you figure that out, train them to do something else that solves both the dog’s and your problem. It’s going to take time and sometimes will be frustrating. Just remember to do this continuously and in good time, your dog will no longer be digging holes in your backyard. If you ever have any trouble, google is a great source for information and solutions.
I know you and your dog will succeed,
My neighbor has chickens in her backyard, and I am terrified. Every time I go outside the chickens get out [of] the cage and chase me around. As I run away from the chickens, my neighbors must think I’m crazy. What can I do to fix this problem?
Scared Little Girl
Dear Scared Little Girl,
The smallest animals tend to be the scariest. My neighbor has tiny dogs that have chased me and tried to bite me. My family thinks it’s funny, but I understand that it is not. It is truly terrifying. Talk to your neighbor about the chickens and explain the problem. Hopefully, your neighbor will understand and keep the chickens controlled. This worked for me. When I talked to my neighbor, she agreed to let the dogs out while I was gone at school. Then, when I came home, she would let the dogs in her house or her fenced-in backyard. The biggest thing is communication with your neighbor.
I promise it’ll get better,
We had to leave our cats outside due to my mom’s allergies. But it’s getting cold outside, so my cats might freeze. What [should] I do?
Dear Cat Queen,
It can break our hearts when we think our pets are cold. Even though your cats maybe a little cold, with a thick layer of fur, they are a lot warmer than what we think. But I know that with my dogs, we would buy a little cage. We would leave the door open and put blankets and shavings in the cage to keep them warm. We also would make sure the cage was near the house and facing away from any wind. Because of your mom’s allergies, talk to her about getting a cage and some old blankets to help keep them warm.
