There is no easy way to start this so I’ll just jump right in. If you ever felt like you try and try your heart out but you’re never good enough for the ones around you. If you devote all your time and effort to being the best player, instrumentalist, cheerleader, actor, or just the best person you possibly can be, yet you still feel like you fall short; this one is for you.

One of the hardest things in life to learn is that you’ll never make everyone happy. It’s just a fact that you’re going to have to deal with. Another thing is that everyone has their own opinion, and most the time you can’t change it; no matter how hard you try.

Despite these factors, here are some important things for you to remember.

1. It doesn’t matter what people think

This sounds kind of cliché, but trust me when I say that as long as it’s okay with God, it’s okay. At the end of the day, His opinion is the only one that matters. That being said you should always strive for the best you, that you can be. People are going to talk, they’re going to have different opinions than you. When it comes to sports, band, theatre, FFA, really any program, as long as you give it your all 100% of the time then it shouldn’t matter if others don’t think you’re good enough.

2. Don’t let other’s negativity tear you down

Stop and think. How many times have you let other people’s opinions of you get you down? One of my good friends told me this, “No one can make you sad, glad, or mad.” It seems kind of ironic considering we as humans let the littlest of things get to us, especially when it’s what other people have to say about us. However, if you stop and think about it, it’s true. No one can make us feel a certain way unless we let them, so don’t let all your emotions ride on what people think of you. So what if they think you aren’t cool, good enough to hang out with them, or fun to be around? ( I know it hurts, but bear with me.) Their opinion shouldn’t matter, and shouldn’t get you done. You know who you are, they don’t.

3. You ARE enough

Maybe this is shocking for you, but you are enough. God made you, He designed you, and He loves you. It is as simple as that. There are going to be times when you feel so far down you can’t seem to find a way back up. You let people tear you down, so in turn, you tear yourself down. Stop. Stop hurting yourself, stop thinking you’re not enough, stop fighting for perfection because you’ll never reach it. Jeremiah 29:11 ESV says “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Life sucks sometimes, but that shouldn’t matter because God has a plan for you! You might not know what that plan is, but that’s okay. The good news is that this shows that even though you feel like you aren’t enough; you are. God literally made a plan for you! If you weren’t enough why would He bother? He loves you, cares for you, and believes in your purpose.
Hang in there, life is tough but so are you. Don’t let others tear you down. Don’t tear yourself down. You got this.
