Category 3 Hurricane “Florence is set to make a touchdown on the East Coast amongst the Carolinas late Thursday/early Friday. Currently, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Maryland are in a state of emergency. Many ports in each sea bordering state have been shut down in anticipation.

More than 10 million residents in North and South Carolina and Virginia are under a storm watch or warning; 5.25 million people are under hurricane warnings and watches and another 4.89 million under tropical storm watches and warnings, according to the National Weather Service. While the storm is due to make landfall in the Carolinas it is set to push almost as far as Nashville then swinging northwest with its sights set on Pennsylvania and Washington DC.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Florence is “an extremely dangerous major hurricane.” Currently, it is set to drop a massive 30 inches of rain and winds are expected to reach up to up to 140 mph. As of now the cities of Myrtle Beach, Atlantic, and Hatteras are set to receive the worst of the storm. The warning from officials in the region is simple.
