Little Lion of The Week

Hello everybody, this week for our Little Lion of the Week, we are featuring a young guy who is near and dear to my heart: his name is Mi’Jaye Porter. This young man is in the 1st grade and is full of positive vibes, and vibrant energy! I first became acquainted with him at the beginning of last year when I would go over to the elementary and mentor him. He always kept me on my toes and was quick to remind me every time I would visit him, and forget his toy if I had gotten it for him this time. I wanted to see how my little man was handling the transition from 2nd grade to the 3rd grade so I stopped by to visit with him and ask him a few questions!

Question: How are you liking school so far?

Answer: “Good, I like it a lot sometimes, and sometimes I just want to go home.”

Question: Who is your favorite teacher?

Answer: “My favorite teacher is Mrs. Romine. She is nice to me.”

Question: Who are your best friends?

Answer: “My two cousins are my “bestest friends” ever!”

Question: Are the classes harder than last year?

Answer: “Not really. I can’t tell yet but I think so.”

Question: What is your favorite subject?

Answer: “Recess man, come on now. You know this!”

After our interview, I walked him back to class where we had to part ways once again. As I was walking away he ran up to me and gave me a big hug and said, “Thank you for coming to see me, next time can we go to the gym, and can you bring me my toy?” All I could do was laugh and tell him that I would try my best to make that happen. Like I said before – he never lets me forget about that toy! Sadly this concludes our Little Lion of the Week segment for this week, be on the lookout for more little people making big moves in the near future!
